Located 23 miles (38 km) from the international airport of Puerto Vallarta you can get to Sayulita by public or private transport. To arrive by using public transport from the airport it is necessary to head north on the Mexico 200 highway and take the bus that has "Sayulita" or "Compostela" on the windshield. If you have a car, take the federal highway 200 Tepic-Vallarta and approximately at "km 125" there is a detour that takes you to the town of Sayulita along a paved road.
The fishing that stands out in this town are some fish such as dorado, tuna, sierra, mahi mahi, wahoo, marlin, red snapper, snapper, juriel, sawfish, grouper or grouper, shrimp, lobster, oyster, sailfish, fish rooster, beautiful among other species. The nightlife in Sayulita is vibrant. Multiple parties and nightclubs are held every weekend. Known for its consistent river mouth surf break, Sayulita was "discovered" by roving surfers in the late 1960s with the construction of Mexican Highway 200. The area became famous with Hollywood celebrities when The Night of the Iguana, which was filmed in Puerto Vallarta, showed the beauty and seclusion of the area to Ava Gardner, Richard Burton and wife Elisabeth Taylor. Today, Sayulita is a prosperous growing village of approximately 5,000 residents.
