Rosarito, is a coastal resort city in the Mexican state of Baja California located approximately 35 minutes south of the U.S. border in Rosarito Beach Municipality. Since Rosarito Beach is located only 18 miles from the border. Rosarito Mexico has long been a favorite of visitors looking for a quick getaway from San Diego.
What is a trip to Mexico without a little bit of shopping. There is an excellent but somewhat hidden artisan Mercado just up the street from Festival Plaza Hotel. Goods include wrought iron goods, blown glass, wood carvings and numerous other traditional Mexican art pieces. And yes, the beach is covered with all terrain vehicles and horses. While this does not necessarily bode well for the scenery it can make for some fun activities. You can usually rent either at the beach in front of Papa's and Beer.
The city maintains luxury resorts that take the form of skyscrapers on its coast. The majority of these buildings are located on Boulevard Benito Juarez, also the city's main Boulevard. Residential and commercial highrises continue to go up along the coast, towards both Tijuana and Ensenada. Rosarito offers more than 900 hotel rooms from 25 resorts such as Las Rocas Resort, Grand Baja and Festival Plaza Hotel; golf courses and spas.
You are perfectly safe in Rosarito and the surrounding area. Though they would prefer a passport, a Driver license and birth certificate will get you out of Mexico when you are ready to depart. Spring Break in Rosarito it ends after Easter Sunday, but some schools don't commence classes til after 23 April. Rosarito is a party town for UCSD and other colleges in San Diego, there are bike races, yacht races, motorcycle races, volleyball tournaments, going on all year. Lots of people.
Rosarito is probably the most user-friendly city in Baja. Rosarito boasts miles of beaches, hotels, and dance clubs. Nearby at Popotla are the Fox Studios where many scenes from the movie Titanic were filmed. Some of the sets from the movie are now part of a museum located there. Playas de Rosarito is also an ideal place for relaxation; spa resorts and day spas can be find along the cost. It also stands for its wonderful scenarios, perfect for weddings and special occasions.
At night Rosarito Beach comes alive. In Rosarito there are shows, karaoke bars, elegant night clubs or you can find wild and crazy bars in Rosarito like Pappas and Beer, Rock and Roll Taco, and Senor Frogs, which attract thousands of college students during Rosarito's Spring Break. Rosarito Boast more than 90 quality restaurants serving international cuisine and local specialties. Almost a million Lobsters are served in the Roarito coastal area every year. Puerto Nuevo, just south of Rosarito Beach, is world famous for it Baja Rock Lobster. Puerto Nuevo can be an excellent day trip and you can typically get a lobster meal with a beer or margarita for about $10 - $15. There is also a nice shopping selection.
In Rosarito enjoy an almost perfect climate with mild winters and sunny summers, and almost everything of interest is in walking distance. Shopping along Rosarito's main street is the best place in Baja California to buy handcrafted Mexican furniture, arts and crafts, leathers, silver, pottery, cement statues, fountains, and blankets.
