On the other side of the Punta de Mita, 22km north of Bucerías on Hwy-200, languorous Sayulita is another popular outpost with an enchanting, jungle-fringed beach, lip-smacking food and some inviting places to stay. The calm was temporarily shattered in 2007 when the town served as backdrop for the cheesy (but commercially successful) Disney movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua many locals were hired as extras. Other than lounging on the sands and making jokes about the movie, the main activity here is surfing.
