The beach of Caleta and Caletilla, are the most famous and visited beaches of Acapulco, as it is characterized by low waves, ideal for visiting children and elderly. It is located in the first section forming the Av. Costera Miguel Aleman, in the tourist area denominated like Traditional Acapulco within the Las Playas. La Caleta is about 200 meters long and is larger than the Playa Caletilla which measures 165 meters. At one end of the cliffs where is built the famous Hotel Caleta, very famous in the era of the 50's and 60's are located. The separated from the beach Caletilla, an access to a small island located approximately 40 meters of these beaches.
Today, this island is a resort called Magic Marine World, which houses an aquarium showing different species of fish and reptiles, as well as shows, where seals part including different kinds of animals. In front, one kilometer from the beach Caleta and Caletilla, the Isla de la Roqueta, which protects the beach from the big waves of the Pacific Ocean is located. La Caleta has few restaurants, including La Cabana, famous for his years at the harbor, where you can enjoy seafood dishes with typical local flavor. The beach Caletilla, unlike Caleta Beach, has a high and large range of seafood restaurants with typical regional taste, after a recent remodeling, provides an excellent view to tourism, both domestic and foreign. La Caleta and Caletilla beach are the only the Port of Acapulco which features a song called Caleta Beach Coquette.They were the first internationally known beaches of Acapulco.
