Barra de Potosi is located 25 km east of Zihuatanejo. To get here you can take Highway 200 from Acapulco to Zihuatanejo and take the road that lies just 20 km away from this last. 15 km further on is access to the Laguna de Potosi. Barra de Potosi is a small fishing village on the Pacific coast in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. If you love and respect nature, if what you're after tranquility and a place away from the crowds, if you're looking for a spacious, clean and isolated beach interrupted only by birds and fish, Barra de Potosi is what you want.It remains a typical Mexican town of about 500 inhabitants. It is located in the countryside, with a pristine beach and lagoons aside. No bars, clubs and markets. The best you can find are the booths (restaurants covered with palm leaves) on the beach, where you can relax in a hammock while watching the pelicans fly over the water, grab a drink and enjoy fresh seafood. Also, you can ride in a kayak around the bay or lagoon and watch the birds that inhabit the place, riding along the beach or through a small jungle spread across the hill, or climbing the latter. Barra means "bank sand ". The sea opens and closes the lagoon each half year. The movement of sand is huge. The sea takes and returns weeks later. Get There
By Road:

You can take the bus to Petatlan and ask the driver to stop at the entrance of Barra de Potosi passing The Achotes. Petatlan the bus leaves the terminal in Street Las Palmas against the bank Banorte on the main street of Zihua. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes including stops for people up and down in different villages on the way to Barra de Potosi . From the entrance to Barra de Potosi on Highway 200, you can take the shuttle that lllevara you to the main beach (adapted pick up truck with benches) which pass approximately every 30 minutes. The latter route is partly paved and partly unpaved and should take about 15 minutes. Another option to get there is by taxi. The cost should be approx. between $ 200 and $ 225 pesos a trip alone.

The Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport is just 15 minutes away from Zihuatanejo by car. You may find direct flights from some cities in Canada and the US especially during the tourist season between December and April.
