Information
The Consuelo Cultural Significance Hispanic City located on the right bank of the River Tampaón, which is part of the hydraulic system of the Rio Panuco, has an approximate area of 210 hectares and has an intricate urban layout. Despite having had a brief development, since it was built only about 2 or 3 centuries before the arrival of the Spaniards and abandoned in the XVI century, Tamohi was one of the most important huastecos centers in the last period of the pre-Hispanic era. The distribution of this urban center was based on large multifunctional platforms very high, since the periodic floods limited the places in which they could build. By found on the banks of the river, the river trade acquired enormous significance; the city had several berths and thus from the river, merchants, visitors and residents themselves amounted by ramps and terraces at successively confined spaces. Walter Staub in 1919 mentions that the famous sculpture known as the teenager was located in El Consuelo ranch.

The archaeological site is accessed by Tamohi Federal Highway 170 (Barra de Navidad-Tampico), then take the detour to the village of Tamuín. On Federal Highway 70 (Tamuín-Xolol) 5.75 km will pass., To find the access road to the archaeological site. From Ciudad Valles necessary move by the Federal Highway 70 to the town El Consuelo; to reach that village head for the Tampaón River, which is located 1 kilometer to the west, and continue the path that runs parallel to that river, for two more kilometers. To arrive at the site is necessary to take the road from Tamuín to San Vicente, where after traveling six kilometers the path that leads to the area will be found.
