This prehistoric settlement, located in a former cattle ranch, was baptized in the twentieth century with the name of the saint of the owner. As in many cases, the original Mayan place-name is unknown, although his record is very old. Cultural significance Archaeological studies show that the prehistoric settlement was founded around 300 AD, when it was a small settlement, though it was the largest the island. Later, around the year 600, a rapid growth of the city, witnessed by the appearance of perishable architecture and better build quality, and a possible strengthening of its relations with coastal sites north of Quintana Roo began. 7km It is located east of the present town of San Miguel de Cozumel and is easily accessible via the cross road of the island, which is a paved road in good condition, built in 1972. Many travel agencies organize tours and Local taxi service provides the path from the main hotels in the cityavailable Services in the area parking, toilets, craft shops and soda managed by a local foundation; INAH has an area for issuing tickets. There is an association of certified guides.Should be noted that the INAH access fee must be added an additional charge made by the Foundation of Parks and Museums of Cozumel on account of use of the access road and service area.
