Copalita. Nahuatl word meaning Place of Copal. Importance This site is located on the western bank of the River Copalita, near the Huatulco tourist development. The first occupation of the settlement dates back to pre-colonial Middle Preclassic period (600 BC) at this time and the construction of housing ceremonial platforms and terraces in the surrounding hills with sea cliffs manifested. The classical period is the rise of this city where it already has a ceremonial center that contains a ballgame and a main building over 20 meters high, which in turn has, so far two tombs associated with the elite ruler.
