The name Tepeapulco ("Next to the great hill") is formed by the Tepetl roots, which means "hill" or Pol Pul, which means "great" and Co which means "on" or "together". Another way to name the site is Xihuingo. Cultural Significance It is also known as the archaeological site located Xihuingo by the foot of the hill of the same name, and 3 km., Tepeapulco city. The word is derived from Xihutl Xihuingo-co, ie, "Place of the Year" and by extension "Place where or register Calculate the Year". This is particularly important because there are some in the surrounding cliffs dotted crossings as Teotihuacan, who served for astronomical calculations and could be related to the name of the area. Get There
From the city of Pachuca is necessary to move to Ciudad Sahagun and then to Tepeapulco. Leaving this town in the northwest part an asphalt road which you have to turn after two kilometers, following a gap leading to the archaeological site. If arriving at the site via public transport, you can take trucks from Ciudad Sahagun with Pachuca direction or from the city of Pachuca (General Hospital) direction Sahagun, but you need to get off on the road, in the point where the deviation to the dirt road, however, will have to walk to the site entrance.
