Cultural Significance This place was occupied during the Classic (200 650 AD) and Epi (650-950 AD); in its heyday it was one of the largest settlements were along the Costa Chica and Acapulco with monumental features. With an area of 334 hectares, the site was divided into two parts, according to the researcher Martha Eugenia Cabrera: the first is the permanent occupation that covered the present city of Acapulco and the second is where the petroglyphs are in the slopes of Cerro La Bola, which was bounded by archaeologists Miguel Perez Negrete and Edgar Pineda, being the area that is currently open to the public. According to the catalog of rock Ruben Manzanilla, the archaeological site of May 5th-la Sabana has a total of 38 petroglyphs with motives of marine fish, land animals, horizontal and circular calendrical accounts, some human figures and images of the god of rain, Tlaloc.
