The site is known to generally known to the hill that houses "Cerro de la Estrella", dates from the Spanish period by a farm that was in her skirts with this name (Hacienda de la Estrella), said raising (225 meters) in ancient times had the name Huixchtecatl. Cultural Significance One of the important aspects of this site is that there the New Fire ceremony of great importance for Postclassic Mesoamerican societies held. This place was called Huixachtecatl (hill of the huizaches). Archeological evidence indicates that the place had population continuity from the Middle Preclassic. At different points of the hill you can see ceremonial and living spaces of the classical period, besides the Early and Late Post Classic. It is precisely in the Early Post that sits on the west side of the Cerro the Colhua who make the first New Fire ceremony in 1351, the ceremony took place every 52 years, on the day that coincided the start of the newly ritual and solar calendars, and its purpose was to keep the sun died. The Temple of the New Fire accessed by the Road Star very close to the intersection of Calzada Ermita Iztapalapa and Av. Javier Rojo Gomez. By Public Transport Metro are nearby the Iztapalapa stations and Cerro de la Estrella, corresponding to Line 8.
