Information
Its name comes from the late twentieth century, as a short distance north of the site, there lived a person from the state of Tabasco. That prompted the browser Teobert Maler, first to document the Mayan ruins and the archaeological site called. Cultural Importance The site was reported by Teobert Maler in 1895 during his explorations in the region Chenes. It peaked between 750 and 900 d. C. and its decline occurred around 1000 and 1250, during the Early Post.Tabasco is a site whose explored area consists of a rectangular bounded on four sides by buildings characteristic architectural style Chenes. Tabasqueño the main buildings are divided into three groups. In all constructions denote characteristics of the Chenes architecture, dated between 650 and 850 AD (Late Classic). In Group 1 the remains of the Palace-Temple or Structure 1, the best known site for having an important and integral zoomorphic front are. The building has two levels and closes on the south by a square of about 60 m (north-south) by 40 m (east-west). The archaeological site Tabasqueño accessed starting from Hopelchén, south , the paved road heading to Dzibalchén taken, should be left at the 34 kilometer (six kilometers before reaching Dzibalchén). In that a gap kilometer westward and following takes about two kilometers you reach the site.
